The owner of Needville Hometown Journal, 63-year-old Sam "Gary" Martin, has been arrested and charged with online solicitation of a minor, authorities announced. The Harris County Precinct 1 Constable's Office reported that Martin was apprehended after allegedly sending explicit messages and images to an undercover officer who was posing as a minor.

Martin, who not only owned but also penned articles for the local paper, was caught in what has become an all-too-familiar sting operation. "The constable’s office says a warrant for Martin’s arrest was issued Sunday and he was taken into custody," reported Click2Houston. He has been accused of sending the undercover officer explicit messages and images, alongside plans to meet to engage in sexual activity.

According to a statement by investigators provided by CW39, Martin "engaged in explicit communications with an online deputy which included plans to meet up to engage in sexual activity." Furthermore, a search warrant was also secured and executed at Martin's Fort Bend County residence, where authorities were searching for potential child sexual assault material.

The operation was a combined effort, with assistance from Needville police and the Fort Bend County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office. Harris County Precinct 1 Constable Alan Rosen’s Office spearheaded the investigation leading to Martin's arrest.
